CREDIT SYSTEM

Recognition of courses between the host and the sending institutions is an indispensable condition of student mobility. Comparison of courses taught at universities in different countries was made possible by introduction of European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) .

The ECTS credits correspond to the time spent at class or studying at home, required to complete the given course. Usually, a certain number of ECTS credits is needed to complete the whole year or semester. Therefore, sending university is able to evaluate the work of its students while studying abroad. The system is also used in Programmes described.

Defined number of ECTS credits is attributed to every course. It is provided within the course description.

As universities in different countries differ also in grading methods and policies, the universal grading system was developed. The chart shows grades according to the ECTS and Jagiellonian University schemes.
