One of the investment priorities of the University is building the Technology Incubator within the Technology Park of the Jagiellonian University in Pychowice, whose task will be assisting newly created high-tech businesses in reaching maturity and the ability to operate independently on the market.
The Incubator will actively influence local development by the realisation of the following aims:
Stimulating the development of entrepreneurship among scientific staff of the Jagiellonian University and graduates from other higher education institutions;
Transfer and commercialisation of advanced technologies;
Creating appropriate conditions enabling the synergy between Science and Business;
Business platform for businesses/people interested in spin-off and start-up activities;
Creating new employment;
The Incubator will be evaluated in the long term on the basis of results obtained by the companies it houses in the form of technologically new products/services. The activity of the Incubator will be reflected by:
Full use of the potential of the scientific staff of the Jagiellonian University;
Increased interest in new investments in technology in the Małopolska region;
Promotion of the region and creation of a network of connections.
The Technology Incubator is a centre of innovation and entrepreneurship with advanced organisation, concentrating all possible assistance and services in one area shared with its potential recipients - small and medium businesses.
Until the investment concerning the Technology Incubator is finished, the University envisages to set up a mini-incubator of 400 m2, with organisation patterns corresponding to the large incubator, starting already in 2004. It will be located within the Technology Park of the Jagiellonian University in Pychowice.
