The Campus of the 600th Anniversary of the Jagiellonian University Revival
A long-term project "Construction of the Campus of the 600th Anniversary of the Jagiellonian University Revival" was launched on May 23, 2001. As it is specified in the appendix to the 2009 state budget law, the project initial cost was 855,571.00 zl., including 624,762.00 zl. allocated from the state budget. The construction period was set for 2001-2010.
On April 3, 2009 the Polish Sejm changed the law on the Campus construction and recalculated the costs, which now amounted to 962,500.00 zl, including 946,543.00 zl allocated from the state budget (using 2008 prices as the basis). The construction period was extended till 2015.
The Campus of the 600th Anniversary of the Jagiellonian University Revival, known as the Third Campus and located in Pychowice, in the eastern part of Kraków, consists of modern buildings housing departments of science, natural science and Faculty of Management and Social Communication. The enlargement of the campus ground (by more than 100,000 m2) will help to make a proper use of the JU research and educational potential. As the Campus borders with the Kraków Technology Park and the Kraków Special Economic Zone, which is unique in Poland and in Eastern Europe, it allows for the development of close relationships between higher education and business. By 2015 the investment costs will have amounted to about 3 billion zloty, with a three times lower contribution of the state budget.
