The kick-off meeting regarding the OMICRON project

The OMICRON project entitled "Enabling OMICs high-thROughput techNologies at the Faculty of Medicine Jagiellonian University Medical College" has been running since 1 January 2012. The project has received funding in the amount of nearly 4 million Euro as a co-winner of the last year's prestigious EU Regpot call. The OMICRON project is of great importance not only to the JUMC but also to the entire region of Lesser Poland (Małopolska). The main objectives of the project are: acquisition of the state-of-the-art research equipment, the employment of highly-qualified researchers and know-how exchange.

The official project kick-off meeting took place on 23 January 2012 in the historic building of the Collegium Maius of the Jagiellonian University, Kraków. The meeting was the opportunity to present and discuss the main objectives of the project. The event was honoured by the presence of Prof. Wojciech Nowak, MD, PhD, Vice-Rector of the Jagiellonian University for the Medical College, Prof. Piotr Laidler, PhD , Representative of the Rector of the Jagiellonian University for Scientific Research and International Co-operation at the Medical College, Prof. Tomasz Grodzicki, MD, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Andrzej Jajszczyk, PhD, Director of the National Science Centre and Dr Tomasz Poprawka, Foundation for Polish Science.
