The area where the Jagiellonian University vineyard is located used to belong to the Benedictine nuns from Staniątki, who were settled there in 13^thcentury and, among other things, ran a distillery.  After the Second World War, the land was nationalized, and in 1970, it was made over to the Jagiellonian University in an exchange.

The Vineyard was named "Nad Dworskim Potokiem", that is "On Manor Brook" after the nearby stream, whose Polish name translates into Manor Brook. Useful meteorological data can be obtained from the two weather stations located in the area. The first vines were planted in April 2005. These have been white varietals, such as: aurora, bianca, seyval blanc, sibera, serena, jutrzenka, muscat ottonel and red varietals: maréchal foch i léon millot. Such choice has been determined by the weather conditions: not too sunny Polish autumn results in red grapes having little time to ripen.
