Hoh Hong Huat, 4th year student of the 6 year MD program at the School of Medicine in English, Jagiellonian Univeristy Medical College in Kraków won the first prize in the INTERSTUDENT 2013 competition held by the Perspektywy Education Foundation in the master's degree program category. He has been selected from among 24 thousand foreigners studying in Poland.
Hoh Hong Huat comes from Malaysia and is a student of the JU MC School of Medicine in English. He saw his first academic success in Malaysia in 2007 when, as a graduate of Yoke Kuan Secondary School, he was awarded the distinction of the "Best Overall Student of the Year." Since 2008 he is a holder of the National Scholarship of Malaysian Government of Public Service Department. He cultivates his scientific interests at the Chair of Histology JU MC, Department of Transplantation JU MC, and also at the Department of Biochemistry of the University of Lausanne in Switzerland.
He is involved in realization of the following research projects:

• "Treatment of Subantimicrobial Doses of Doxycycline Influences the Matrix Remodeling of the Atherosclerotic Plaque in ApoE-Knock out Mice," Department of Histology, JU MC;
• "Racial Differences in Susceptibility to Skin Cancer: Genetic Polymorphism in ATF3 and AP-1 Network Genes," Department of Biochemistry, University of Lausanne, Switzerland;

He will soon be starting a project that deals with induced pluripotent stem cells at the Laboratory of the Department of Transplantation, Jagiellonian University Children's Hospital, Kraków.
Hoh Hong Huat also made his mark as an outstanding medical student by winning the first and the third prize in the All-Polish National Human Anatomy Quiz "Golden Scapula" in the team and in the individual competition in May 2010. In 2012 he received the first prize in Poster Session for Basic Sciences at the International Medical Students' Conference 2012 in Kraków.
In 2012 Hoh Hong Huat partook in the University of Lausanne Summer Undergraduate Research (SUR) Programme Scholarship 2012, Switzerland. As a student of the JU MC School of Medicine in English he acquired GPA of 4.87/ 5.0. He is also a member of the IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Student Associations). He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, English and Malaysian, and knows basics of Polish and German.
