Professor Jan Woleński to receive the Foundation for Polish Science Prize

The FNP (Foundation for Polish Science) Prize is awarded since 1992. The prize honours renowned scientists for significant advancements and scientific discoveries which shift cognitive boundaries and open new perspectives for research, provide an exceptional contribution towards the advancement of our nation's progress and culture as well as assure Poland a significant position for undertaking the most ambitious challenges of the modern world.*

This year the award went to Professor Jan Woleński, professor emeritus of the Institute of Philosophy at the Jagiellonian University, and one of the most renowned Polish philosophers. The FNP council recognised the Professor's extensive studies into Lvov and Warsaw school of thought and his efforts to introduce its achievements into the international discourse of contemporary philosophy. He is the author and co-author of 1700 publications, 600 articles and 25 books, including: Logic and philosophy in the Lvov-Warsaw school (1989) and Essays on Logic and Its Applications in Philosophy (2011).

The award ceremony will be held on 4 December at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.
