Supernovas of Polish Science

On November 4, 2011 a group of oustanding Polish scholars met in the Jagiellonian University Collegium Novum. The participants were the award winners of the Foundation for Polish Science. The Foundation for polish Science, which is the best known Polish non-state-funded organization providing financial support to Polish science, celebrates the 20th anniversary of its foundation. From among 7.5 thousand beneficiaries of the foundation's projects there have been many scholars from Krakow. "Each of you has been a supernova in the firmament of Polish Science. Some supernovas shine longer, some shorter, but all are visible and recognized," said the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Karol Musioł when addressing the participants of the meeting, who gathered in the Aula of Collegium Novum. He also wished them further success and expressed hope that there will be many such "supernovas" in Polish science.

Since the very start, the foundation has been supporting the most successful scholars and research groups, promoting creativity and financing the investments in Polish Science. "The Foundation has rendered invaluable service to Polish science," said Rector Karol Musioł, adding that: "There are few initiatives in Poland which use funds and brilliant ideas in such a fruitful way."
