Opening of the new academic year of the first JU study programme abroad

Two days of intense lectures and classes, seven teachers and twenty four students. This is how the first two day session of the new postgraduate programme launched by the Jagiellonian University in London looked like.

Polish-British Strategic Partnership – this is the name of the first study programme abroad of the Jagiellonian University, which has been organized in cooperation with the Polish University Abroad in London. It is the first time the oldest university in Poland is so closely cooperating with the oldest Polish higher education institution abroad.

The programme is aimed to prepare its graduates to work in the governmental institutions, think tanks, social and cultural institutions, mass-media and NGOs specializing in the Polish-British relations. The programme is a post-graduate course, with lectures and classes held on weekends every two weeks. The academic staff consists of experts in political studies, international relations, history, history of art and other fields of Polish-British relations.

During the opening ceremony the letter from the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Karol Musioł was read out by the his plenipotentiary who is in charge of the programme, Prof. Arkady Rzegocki. The Rector of the Polish University Abroad Prof. Dr. Hab. Halina Taborska also gave a speech.

The students of the new programme include both persons who have been living in the UK for many years and those who have moved there recently. One of the students is even going to fly to London from Krakow every two weeks to take part in the programme! All the course participants are the people interested in both British and Polish culture who want to acquire new knowledge as well as systemize and deepen the one they already possess.
