The Department of Gynaecology and Oncology of the Jagiellonian University Medical College has received accreditation from the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology. The Department is headed by Prof. Antoni Basta. The European accreditation means that the doctors who work in the Department and specialize in gynaecological oncology will be recognized as specialists in the field across Europe. It also enables doctors from abroad to become specialists in the field in the Krakow Department.

It is also worth noting that Prof. Antoni Basta, the head of the Chair in Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the JU MC Faculty of Medicine, was chosen President of the Polish Society of Gynaecological Oncology at the second congress of the Society in Poznan.
