On 17 May 2014, the JU Institute of Middle and Far East Studies organised the first edition of the Festival of Asian Studies. This student initiative was aimed to acquaint the young people of Kraków with the activities of the institute and encourage them to enrol to Asian Studies.

The programme of the Festival contained many attractions related to four main regions of the Far East: China, Japan, Korea and India along with South Asia as well as the Middle East. Both lecturers and students actively participated in the event. Numerous workshops devoted to culture were organised, including calligraphy and language lessons.

Over 300 people participated in the Festival. Each of the 30 attractions garnered tremendous interest and some of them needed to be organised more than once to satisfy the needs of the many visitors. This success ensures that the Festival will be organised again in the future.
