A meeting with Rimantas Šalna

On 18 November 2014, a meeting with Rimantas Šalna was held in the Jagiellonian Library. Rimantas Šalna is the director of the Adam Mickiewicz Museum, which is a part of the Vilnius University Library, and the author of numerous books and articles on Adam Mickiewicz, Euzebiusz Słowacki, Philaretes and Philomates. The meeting featured a presentation of his latest book – Po różnych stronach barykady [On different sides of the wall].

During the meeting, Rimantas Šalna discussed lesser known facts about Mickiewicz and his life – the time he spent in Vilnius, his reputation with women, acquaintance with Andrzej Towiański, creation of the Polish Legions in Turkey, and the different perceptions of historical events by the poets of that period: Mickiewicz, Tolstoy and Pushkin.
