On 4 December 2014, a Polish Day was held at one of the best Portuguese higher education institutions, the Catholic University of Portugal (Universidade Catolica) in Lisbon. The programme of the event, initiated by the Polish Embassy to Portugal, included two academic debates, attended by more than 100 participants: students, academics, diplomats and experts. The discussions were accompanied by actions promoting the Jagiellonian University, whose study offer in foreign languages includes a double MA degree programme in European Studies run together with the Catholic University of Portugal.

The debate on the similarities and differences between the Portuguese and Polish nations featured Prof. Zdzisław Mach, the Jagiellonian University Rector's Proxy for International Relations, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, Prof.  Bronisław Misztal, as well as Professors Joao Espada, Manuel Braga da Cruz, and Piotr Wilczek. The second session was devoted to economic issues, with special focus on the sociological and economic determinants of the success of Portuguese companies who have invested in Poland.  Besides the access to promotional materials about Poland and the educational offer of the Jagiellonian University, the conference Participants could also taste Polish apples from Grójec, which have recently become available in one of Portuguese supermarket chains.
