JU doctoral student chosen the best international student in PhD category

A doctoral student of the JU Faculty of Physics, Astronomy, and Applied Computer Science, Ghanshyambhai Khatri won the Interstudent 2014 competition for the best international student in Poland in the PhD studies category.

The decision was made by the Chapter of the Competition headed by Prof. Włodzimierz Nykiel, the Rector of the University of Lodz and the President of the International Relations Committee of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP). The Jagiellonian University candidate was recommended by Prof. Paweł Moskal.

The results of the competition were announced on January 22 at the award gala of the conference Foreign Students in Poland 2015 in Lublin.

The PhD category winner, who comes from India, has been fascinated with physics since childhood and grew up reading and listening to stories about great scientists, like Nicholaus Copernicus and Maria Skłodowska-Curie. Owing to his hard work and struggle, he won a scholarship  of the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP), enabling him to study at the alma mater of Nicholaus Copernicus, which was like a dream come true for him. After completing his PhD studies, Ghanshyambhai Khatri plans to stay in Poland and continue his research here. He is already part of a research team at the Cyclotron Center Bronowice in Krakow.

Congratulations to the winner!
