The JU Institute of Political Science and International Relations, which is a part of the Faculty of International and Political Studies, was elected to lead an international consortium working on a research project, entitled Geopolitical dilemmas. Poland and Germany vs. the processes and challenges of Europeanisation in Eastern Europe and Caucasus. Five other higher education institutions are taking part in the project: European University Viadrina in Frankfurt, Yerevan State University, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Moldova State University, and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

A network consisting of experts and scientists will be created within the framework of the project. They will conduct research on the process of Europeanisation and the geopolitical situation in Eastern Europe and Southern Caucasus, particularly in the context of social-political transformation as well as legal and cultural changes in certain states. An analysis of the ongoing conflict in the Ukraine and its influence on stability and safety will be an important part of the meeting.

The project's coordinator is Dr Piotr Bajor from the Department of National Security and co-coordinator is Dr Kamila Scholl-Mazurek from the European University Viadrina. The project is financed by the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation, the Robert Bosch Foundation and Bratniak Foundation.
