Ambassador of Morocco visits JU

On 23 March 2015, the Jagiellonian University was visited by the Ambassador of His Majesty the King of Morocco to Poland HE Youns Tijani.

The guest was received in Collegium Novum by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Wojciech Nowak. The meeting was also attended by members of the JU Faculty of International and Political Studies: the Dean Prof. Bogdan Szlachta, the Head of the Institute of the Middle and Far East Rev. Prof. Krzysztof Kościelniak, and Dr Ewa Szczepankiewicz-Rudzka of the Institute of Political Science and International Relations. The Ambassador was accompanied by Minister Plenipotentiary Mohcine Sebbata and the correspondent of Maghreb Arab Press Abdellah Akdim.

The meeting focused on the Polish-Moroccan relations in the area of science, culture and higher education, as well as the ongoing and planned collaboration between the Jagiellonian University and Moroccan academic institutions, with special focus on the initiatives involving the JU Faculty of International and Political Studies. The issues related to the current political situation in North Africa and the Middle East were also discussed.

After the meeting, the Ambassador took a short tour of Collegium Maius and then visited the JU Institute of the Middle and Far East, where he gave a lecture to its staff and students.

The Ambassador's visit was part of the series Jagiellonian Diplomatic Encounters, organised by the JU Faculty of International and Political Studies since the academic year 2012/2013.
