International Sociological Association meeting in Kraków
On 19-20 March, the JU Institute of Sociology held a meeting of the Executive Committee of the International Sociological Association (ISA). The symposium, entitled Global Sociology – Local Perspectives, attracted distinguished sociologists from around the world, including the editors of the most important magazines issued by the ISA (both in paper and electronic versions): International Sociology, Current Sociology, Global Dialogue and sociopedia.isa. The opening lecture, Sociology and Social Justice in the 21st Century, was delivered by Prof. Margaret Abraham, President of ISA. The symposium was divided into several sections, each of them concerning a particular topic: globalisation, exclusion, communication, culture, civil society and human rights.
The conference was co-organised by the Jagiellonian University and Polish Sociological Association, and co-funded by the National Bank of Poland.
