On 6 October 2014, in JU Collegium Novum, the Rector of the Jagiellonian University, Prof. Wojciech Nowak received professor Thomas Faist of Bielefeld University. The meeting also featured the Dean of the Faculty of International and Political Studies, Prof. Bogdan Szlachta.

Professor Thomas Faist is a sociologist who specialises in the issues of transnationalisation, development and migration. He serves as a Dean of the Faculty of Sociology at Bielefeld University.

On the same day, in the conference room of the JU Auditorium Maximum, Prof. Faist delivered the lecture entitled "The Transnational Social Question in an Age of Migration."
