Nine Polish universities have been included in the new Quacquarelli Symonds university ranking (Emerging Europe and Central Asia 2014/2015). The Jagiellonian University was ranked as 8th, surpassed only by the University of Warsaw (4th). Other universities include Warsaw University of Technology (28th), the AGH University of Science and  Technology (44th), and the University of Wrocław (46th). This list also features Wrocław University of Technology, the University of Gdańsk, the Nicolaus Copernicus University, and the University of Łódź.

According to QS, "universities in the EECA region are beginning to add depth to the landscape of global higher education. They are no longer just competing nationally; they are reaching out to the world, driving innovation and marketing their unique strengths like never before. Inevitably, they are becoming increasingly attractive to students and QS is pleased to announce the first ranking dedicated to this region - to providing these universities with a platform to shine and to regionally mobile students a way to compare universities."

Since 1990, Quacquarelli Symonds has become established as the world's leading network for top careers and education. Producers of the QS World University Rankings, QS's innovative research, events, publications and university solutions provide new ways of bringing universities into contact with the best and brightest students worldwide.
